엄지은은 카메라를 든 신체를 매개로 비디오와 퍼포먼스, 설치 작업을 통해 개인의 주관적 경험이 세계의 리듬과 공명하는 순간에 주목한다. 이때 발생하는 인간의 미시적인 신체 감각, 작동하는 내면의 믿음, 문화적 행동양식이 지구적 차원의 물리적 조건과 복잡하게 얽혀있는 상태를 드러내고자 하며, 경험적 리서치를 통해 발견한 감각들을 수집하여 비선형적 서사로 재조직한다. 시간 기반 매체를 통해 개인의 감각이 어떻게 공동의 감각이 될 수 있을지, 공생의 조건은 과연 무엇인지 고민하고 있다.
Jieun Uhm (b. 1994) works primarily with video, performance, and research, which she employs to explore narrative as a sensory experience, mediated through the body holding a camera. Her focus lies in recognizing the moments when individual subjective experiences resonate with the rhythms of the world. Contemplating how these personal perceptions, formed at specific instances, can evolve into shared and universal perceptions.
